What is the technical architecture of MediNous HMS?

The MediNous application is a multitier architecture (User Interface, Application and Database). This architecture is an ideal choice for a distributed environment that is required for a typical Hospital Management System. The architectural goals in consideration are meant to provide the following added advantages to the application:

What is the technology used for MediNous HMS?

MediNous HMS is designed using VB.Net 3.0 technologies using the Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and the Windows Communication Framework (WCF) for the distributed architecture and XAML –Next generation GUI from Microsoft.

Which is the database used for the application?

MediNous supports Oracle database 9i and above.

Is MediNous HMS a Web based application?

MediNous HMS is a completely integrated online application that can be accessed using a browser over the web. MediNous HMS is designed and developed using VB.Net and Oracle as database.

Is MediNous HMS fully compliant with WHO Standard ICD 10 CODING for disease coding?

MediNous HMS is fully compliant with the WHO standard ICD 10 coding for doctor’s diagnosis. Doctors can record their diagnosis based on ICD 10 code and has the provision to search by ICD ‘CODE or description

Does MediNous HMS comply to standards like HL7, DICOM, ASTN, etc.

We have developed messages using HL7 messaging protocol, DICOM will be part of the PACS integration.

Has MediNous been integrated with any standard drug library such that it provides flashes on screen of drug allergies, if any, against prescriptions and certain drug reactions details?

HMS is integrated with CMP Medica drug data base library (this is a geographically specific drug database maintained and updated by a dedicated team of doctors/pharmacists and is updated every 3 months. The system will give alerts for Contra drugs as well as Contra Alerts(drug reactions). The doctor can view the contra details as well as the entire drug details.

Does MediNous HMS cater to a comprehensive, centralized EMR?

HMS has a comprehensive Electronic Medical Record. EMR is the crux of the OP and CPOE(computerized Physician Order Entry) modules. EMR generated by MediNous HMS exhibits all the vital information needed by the doctor during the course of Patient Episode for better diagnosis

Does the system support touch screen, mobile computers used by doctors for taking care of patients within the hospital?

MediNous HMS can be integrated with third party devices like PDA, mobiles ect where in doctors can log in to the application via these devices.

Does the system have Role-Based Log-ins for all the hospital staff?

There is a role based Security within the application. The security feature provides the System Administrator with a security matrix defining the users and their permissions within each module, from which, the user will be able to grant/revoke permissions for modules, functions, data…. etc, for each user or for a group of users. The rights of the users are defined based on the roles/responsibilities in the hospital.

Does the system support RFID and Bar Coding Tags?

Yes. The system supports Bar codes. MediNous HMS can be integrated with RFID or Barcodes for tracking purpose.

Does the system offer electronic or physical prescriptions by patients choice?

Yes. In MediNous, once the doctor creates the prescription, the same is directly available to the pharmacist for dispensing. Physical print copy of the prescription can also be taken in the application.

Does the system provide the patient data captured and the Clinical Research Profile?

MediNous HMS aids the hospital in clinical research. Each doctor can maintain a research list of his/her own and he can attach patients to the particular research list. The entire clinical data along with the EMR of the research patients can be viewed by the doctors. The system also allows the hospital to generate and view reports based on diseases/symptoms and also on specific epidemics. It will also give reports on the patient mortality rate.
